Via Francigena Taste of Tuscany Tour

Via Francigena Taste of Tuscany Tour

Via Francigena Taste of Tuscany Tour was scheduled to start on Friday 4th September 2020. Sadly, the coronavirus meant we had to cancel the tour. Since we can’t go on the tour, please join us on a virtual jourey!

Several aspects of this tour that set it apart from the average walking tour or pilgrimage. The itinerary has been designed to minimise lengthy walks and maximise aesthetic and cultural experiences. Each day we will enjoy the Tuscan landscape, architecture, art, food and wine. And since it is a sketch walk there will be plenty of sketching and photography tuition assisted by our experienced artists. In addition, our chauffeur will drive us to some out of the way places, especially the vineyards!

Taste of Tuscany in Florence

The tour begins with two days in Florence! And since it is a pilgrimage we start at the Cathedral of Florence Santa Maria Del Fiore. This is where we receive our first pilgrim stamp and then enjoy the splendours of the Cathedral and the Baptistry.

Next we will have a walking tour of Florence! This will take through the famous fashion streets and onto Uffizi Gallery to view its many masterpieces.

Just past Piazza Santa Trinita, we come to the famous Ponte Vecchio Bridge where we stop for some photography and sketches. And back home in the studio, here is Carol the Pilgrim’s painting of the bridge.

Ponte Vecchio Florence Oil Painting

Our Via Francigena Taste of Tuscany Tour would not be complete without sampling the special treat in the Mercato Centrale of Florence. So, this is the ideal place to stop for lunch. Not only are all the foods magnificently displayed, but it is an ideal place to sit and sample the best of Italian foods! And the Florentine steak is a must for dinner in the evening!
